I bought this to backup all the family's files. Transfering lots of data onto it was slow, but that's a one off event. It won't take long to sync a few changed files if I remember to do it regularly.
It is solidly built and good value for 1TB of storage.
Please note: if you want to store any files larger than 4GB then to need to reformat it to NTFS (it comes formated as FAT32). This is simple to do in windows - just right click the drive and select format to find the format window.
