After nearly filling my Seagate 320Gb external hard drive with my Time Machine backups, I decided that I needed a larger hard drive. After reading mixed reviews of this product, I was a little unsure whether to take the plunge, but went ahead.
After copying all my data from one drive to this one, I hid this unit behind the desk. It is very quiet in operation and fast too. The great thing about it now is that my Mac keeps backing up data every day and there is no hassle. When I power down my computer, the drive also turns off. When i switch the computer back on, the drive comes on. All silently and all in the background, exactly as a backup drive should be. I have backups going back to February 2008 as well as 24 films backed up and I still have 440Gb free.
As JacJack says, if you have a MAc, format the drive first in a better file system. This will not only be faster but more reliable.
