This is the 3rd Western Digital External Hard Drive I have bought from Amazon which shows my confidence in the product/ The make was first recommended by my computer guru who has never put me wrong in his advice. Its good and stable and quiet and cool running - it seems to go to sleep a bit more quickly than I might like but as it deliberately does not have a noisy fan thats something I have easily lived with.
Only 2 niggles that prevent me giving 5 stars 1) the UK 3pin plug is a bit of a stuck on bodge ( I know its stuck on because the previous one came off and had to be reglued -aren't we in the UK important enough to have a UK specific adaptor? 2) Why does it not come ready formatted in NTFS far preferable to FAT 32 for most - I did reformat my last Drive but it was such a pain that i have stuck with what I was given-it seems now I have Vista FAT32 can handle file sizes of more than 4GB which XP could not, I think. Finally WD offers a lot of reliable storage for your buck
I end with a question that some might be able to answer- why do they say 1 TB when it ain't there is from memory around 70GB unaccounted for and I AM taking into a/c the mere MB's of the pre-installed WD programs..!!Get more detail about Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive.
