After scouring around for a cheap 500GB external hard drive I found this Western Digital Elements 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - Black which to my amazement was not only 1TB (1000GB) but just as cheap if not even much cheaper than the majority of the 500GB and even the 250-300GB drives!!!
I was certainly not wasting any time and was getting me one of these.
One of the reasons I believe it's supposed to be cheaper is because of aesthetics as it is pretty bog standard in looks but it is lighter and more compact than my previous 250GB (F.A. Porsche designed!) sleek silver one; I actually much prefer this black non-descript one which can just disappear amongst my stuff and sit there conspicuously.
Admittedly I have only used it a handful times and have no idea about it's long term performance but so far I am very happy at having bagged a bargain and am assuming that not much can go wrong with it or it's function..........fingers crossed!
Therefore for price alone I highly recommend this Western Digital Elements 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - Black and it is extremely easy to use i.e. plug it in and you're ready to go!
