Don't listen to the people giving it 1 or 2 stars!
It's very quiet and works as well as any other drive you'll find for the price.
The only time that you have issues with it is if you don't format it correctly, and then that's just a problem with the filesystem (to people complaining about 4GB files not copying over fully)
There is an indicator light near the back, even though people say there isn't, and it's very small, so not at all distracting.
