I bought this as a back-up for my main drive. It was inexpensive, is quiet in operation and works. Write speed may be rather slow - I haven't enough expereince (thankfully!) of different drives - but for my purposes it did all that's required. A number of reviews of WD drives have talked about sudden, catastrophic drive failure and irrevocable loss of all files.
