Lots of people have said that this is quiet; all I can say is their living spaces must be noisy enough to drown out the clatter from this thing. I've taken a instant dislike to it as it whines, hums & clicks all the time.
It's also slow in use, which is not so much the copy speed but the time it takes to wind itself up whenever it's needed; every time my PC tries to access it it's like a 90 year old trying to pull itself out of a wheel chair (apologies to any 90 year olds reading this!). It makes it really annoying to use continuously because of this, the slowish copy speed and the accompanying whine every time you attempt to do anything with it.
In short, as soon as I can be bothered to move it it's going into the next room where I can forget about it. Overall, it's cheap and no exception to the rule that like everything, you get what you pay for.
